Nefesin sessiz diliThe quiet language of breath
Qigong'a başlarken en çok neyi bıraktığımıza dair kısa bir yazı.A short piece on what we most let go of when we begin qigong.
Bir derse ilk kez gelen biri, çoğu zaman yanında görünmez bir yük getirir: gün boyu biriktirdiği hız. Adımları hızlıdır, nefesi yukarıdadır, omuzları kulaklarına yakındır. İlk on dakika, aslında hiçbir şey öğretmeyiz — sadece yavaşlarız.Someone arriving at a class for the first time usually brings an invisible load with them: the speed they have gathered all day. Their steps are quick, their breath sits high, their shoulders live near their ears. In the first ten minutes we teach nothing at all — we simply slow down.
Qigong'un ilk armağanı bir teknik değil, bir izindir: hiçbir yere yetişmeme izni. Eller kalkarken nefes gelir, eller inerken nefes gider. Bu kadar. Zihin buna önce inanmaz; sonra, birkaç tekrarın içinde, bedenin zaten bildiği bir dile geri döner.Qigong's first gift is not a technique but a permission: permission to be late for nothing. The breath arrives as the hands rise, and leaves as the hands fall. That is all. The mind does not believe it at first; then, within a few repetitions, it returns to a language the body already knows.
Bıraktığımız şey nefes değil — nefesi tutma alışkanlığıdır.What we let go of is not the breath — it is the habit of holding it.
Standing like a mountain, emptying like a valley: through the practice we move between these two. The body discovers, at its own pace, that strength does not come from hardness, nor softness from collapse. Our part is to open a quiet room for that discovery.
Bir sonraki derse gelirken deneyin: kapıdan girmeden önce bir kez, sadece bir kez, nefesinizin kendi kendine inmesine izin verin. Ders, aslında orada başlar.Try this on your way to the next class: before stepping through the door, once — just once — let your breath descend on its own. That, really, is where the class begins.
